Selecting the right Food & Drink Type for your profile

If more than one option applies, you can select multiple options, for example if your restaurant also has a bar, you would select 'Restaurant and Cafes' and 'Bars'. However, if you operate distinct businesses at the same location, like a cellar door and a restaurant, we recommend creating separate profiles (i.e. a restaurant profile plus a winery profile) to ensure clear and accurate information is provided for both offerings. (See: Do I need multiple profiles?)

Food & Drink Types

Food & Drink Businesses can select from the following business types:

Bars

Bars are establishments that primarily focus on offering beverages. To be eligible, bars must cater to leisure visitors, meaning they are located in areas that complement other leisure tourism activities or are part of vibrant tourism precincts.

Breweries and Distilleries

Breweries and distilleries suitable for this category must provide experiences or products centred around their brewing or distilling processes. To join, these businesses should have public tasting areas, such as cellar doors, and must offer experiences that appeal to visitors, not just locals.

Cooking Schools, Lessons and Workshops

This category is for cooking schools or establishments that offer food-based lessons and workshops with a focus on leisure tourism. This can include restaurants or cafes that offer cooking classes, wine tasting workshops, barista courses, and similar experiences that engage visitors.

Produce

This category includes food or produce-related businesses that cater to leisure tourists. These businesses should offer both an experience and produce for visitors to purchase, enhancing their overall visit to the region.

Restaurants and Cafés

Restaurants and cafes listed here should primarily offer dining, food, or beverages. This category excludes fast food franchises unless they are located in very small regional destinations where other dining options are limited. These venues should contribute to the culinary appeal of the area for leisure tourists.

Wineries

Wineries and vineyards in this category must have cellar doors open to the public for tastings. They should provide wine-related experiences or products that appeal to the leisure tourism market, offering visitors a chance to explore local viticulture.
