Getting started with fax numbers

What is fax?

With ClickSend, you can send and receive faxes online or via email. It’s a modern, secure, and convenient alternative to traditional fax machines. This service is used by people in the healthcare, law, and government industries.


Setting up new fax numbers

Whether you need a new number or require a specific area code, you can easily set up a new fax number with ClickSend.

Buying a new number

You can purchase a new number via Buy a Number in the Dashboard. You’ll see the monthly cost listed next to the number.


Can’t find a number for your location?

If a number isn’t available or you need a specific area code, we can help you. However, this process can take up to 10 business days. To request a number contact customer support.

If you do request a number from customer support, there is an additional $15 AUD set up fee. A $70 AUD porting fee may also be applicable.

You’ll need the following information based on your country:

  • A local address matching the requested area code.

Germany

  • Valid proof of address (e.g., Commercial Register, Business Registration, or Local Taxation Document).

  • Valid proof of ID (e.g., Passport, National ID Card, or Driving License).

  • For business representatives, additional documentation linking them to the business may be required.

United Kingdom

  • A local address matching the requested area code.

Sweden

  • Business name.

  • Email address.

  • Contact number.

  • End-user’s town or local region.

  • Local address matching the requested area code.

While faxing is supported in the UK, ClickSend cannot send faxes to numbers with prefixes 44844 and 44845 due to carrier restrictions.


Port your existing fax number

Already have a fax number? You can port it to ClickSend in a few simple steps:

  1. Submit the completed form and a copy of your latest invoice from your current provider via an online chat with customer support.

  2. Make sure you have your ClickSend user ID ready. You can find this in the account menu at the top right hand corner of the Dashboard.

You will keep receiving faxes via your fax machine until porting is complete. No downtime is expected during the process.


Porting fees and timelines

Porting our number is still a manual process completed by our team in collaboration with phone carriers. Depending on the type of port, there are different timelines and costs.
