📖 Note: This article explains how users participating in competitions on the platform can view and interact with competition Announcements.
What is the Announcements page?
The Announcements page is a page where organisers of a competition can make posts about important competition updates or logistical information. For instance, your competition organisers may use the Announcements page to:
Clarify competition rules and etiquette;
Announce updates to event scheduling;
Inform of ongoing technical issues;
Announce challenge hints, and;
Inform of general competition-related information relevant to participants.
📖 Note: the Announcements page is a feature that was introduced in March 2024, and is available to all competitions (both individual and team-based).
Navigating to a Competition's Announcements Page
You can find the Announcements page for a competition on the sidebar when you are within the competition. Simply click Announcements to open the Announcements page.
Reading and Interacting with Announcements
Once you're on the Announcements page within a competition, you'll be able to see the competition announcement messages posted by the competition organisers. For each message, you'll be able to see the name [1] of the poster, an 'Event Organiser' badge [2] next to their name, and the time and date [3] that the message was posted.
As a participant in a competition, you have the option to interact with announcements by clicking the 'Like' button located beneath each message. You can see the number of likes each announcement message has on each 'Like' button.
We encourage you to like messages on the Announcements page. This simple action helps your competition organisers gauge the extent of their messages' reach.
Receiving Competition Announcement Notifications
When a competition organiser posts a new message in Announcements, you'll receive a notification on your screen, like the one below:
Click the 'X' button to dismiss the notification.
💡Remember: you'll only see a notification for new announcements if you have the platform open in a browser tab.
If you're not logged into the platform at the time a new announcement is made, you won't see the notification when you do log in.
In these cases, you will need to manually go to the Announcements page within the competition to see new announcement messages posted by your competition organisers.
When you wish to view announcement messages, simply navigate to the Announcements page at any time during your competition. Once a competition has ended, as a participant, you will only be able to see the competition scoreboard, so you'll lose access to a competition's Announcements page once the competition is over.
