Teachers can create temporary passwords for students enrolled in their Subjects. This is the fastest way to get a student back into their account during class.
Note: If your school uses Clever or Single Sign-on (SSO), students log in with their school email credentials. Contact your school's IT team to reset SSO passwords. See Single Sign-on school integration.
Create a temporary password for one student
Open your Subject and click the Students button in the header;
Find the student in the Class list (use Ctrl+F on Windows or Cmd+F on Mac to search by name or email);
Click Reset password to the right of their email address.
A temporary password will appear. It is valid for 4 days and expires as soon as it is used. The student will be prompted to create a new password on their next login. They will also receive an email (if external messages are permitted) notifying them that a temporary password was used on their account.
Make sure the student types their email address exactly as it appears in your Class list. A typo in either the email or the temporary password will prevent login.
Student not enrolled in your Class yet?
If the student already has a Stile account at your school, invite them via email to automatically enrol them in your Class. Once enrolled, the Reset password button becomes available. See Add students.
If the student's account is linked to a different school, contact Stile Support. Include the student's email address, your Subject name, and the Class to add them to.
Print temporary passwords for the whole Class
Use Print all passwords to generate temporary passwords for every student in a Class at once. Each password is unique to that student and valid for 4 days. Temporary passwords do not override students' existing passwords.
Steps:
On the Students page, select the Class you need;
Click Print all passwords above the student list;
Your browser's print window will open with a document showing each student's email and temporary password;
Print the document, cut out the individual login cards, and hand them to students as they sit down.
Students will be prompted to set a new password before continuing to the Session.
Pro tip: Students are most likely to forget their login details at the start of term or before a major assessment! Print this page in advance to be prepared, and dispose of it securely at the end of the day.
