How to answer an Open Response question as a student

Choose the way you respond.

An Open Response question lets you build your answer using different types of content. You can use one type or mix and match.

Your options:

  • Text: type your answer, including maths notation;

  • Files and media: upload a video, image, PDF, or other file;

  • Canvas: draw freehand and edit images;

  • Youtube or Vimeo: embed videos;

  • Table: create a table with text or maths;

  • Mind map: make a visual brainstorm;

  • Graph: plot a line or bar graph;

  • Audio: record your voice using your device's microphone.

To add content:

  1. Click an option to add a content block

  2. Add your answer inside that block

  3. Click Done to save it

  4. Repeat to add more content blocks if needed

Important tips:

  1. Read the question carefully β€” it may tell you which type to use.

  2. Click Done on each block to save as you go. You can't undo deleted content blocks, so save often!
