As an ATDW distributor, implementing tracking across your digital channels is a mandatory requirement under the Distribution Licence Agreement. Tracking enables ATDW and its partners to measure engagement, demonstrate value to tourism businesses, and continually improve the quality and relevance of content delivered to travellers.
Why is tracking required?
Tracking provides deep insights into how travellers interact with your content. By using Web Beacons, Image URL Tracking, and Contact & Booking URL Tracking, you can:
Optimise your site and content based on actual user behaviour
Demonstrate your impact to tourism operators and stakeholders
Support data-driven marketing and content decisions
Meet compliance obligations as a distributor partner
When should tracking be implemented?
Tracking must be implemented as soon as you integrate our content or within 30 days of launching new sites or services.
What tracking is required?
Web Beacons
Web Beacons are transparent 1x1 pixel images embedded in your web pages or emails. They automatically track when a page is viewed or an email is opened, capturing statistics on page and product views without affecting your site’s appearance or performance.
Where to use:
Embed Web Beacons in the HTML of your web pages displaying ATDW content.
In email campaigns, use Web Beacons to monitor open rates and engagement.
Where to get more information: See Web Beacon in our API Guide.
Image URL Tracking
Image URL Tracking uses unique URLs for each image associated with your content. This allows us to monitor how often images are viewed, supporting data-driven decisions about content and design.
How to implement: Always use the image URLs output by the API, ensuring the tracking code remains intact.
Where to get more information: See Image URL Tracking in our API Guide.
Contact & Booking URL Tracking
Contact and booking URLs now include tracking versions. These URLs allow us to measure click-throughs and conversions, helping profile owners understand the value your channel delivers.
Track Click-Throughs: Understand how many users are clicking through to make enquiries or bookings.
Optimise Conversion Paths: Use this data to refine your content and user experience for higher conversion rates.
How to implement: Use the “withTracking” versions of contact and booking URLs provided in the API response for all click actions or buttons.
Where to get more information: See Contact & Booking URL Tracking in our API Guide
