The Strive 4 Sustainability Scorecard shows travellers and partners where a tourism business stands on its journey toward sustainable operations. As administrators, updating and verifying these scores is part of our shared commitment to advancing industry standards—building trust and forward momentum for every business.
To ensure Sustainability information is always up-to-date and accurate, only Administrators are able to record and update Sustainability Scorecard results for profiles. It is important that each entry is based on the official score assigned by Ecotourism Australia and only current and valid scores are published.
What is the Strive 4 Sustainability Scorecard?
Launched in 2022 by Ecotourism Australia, the Strive 4 Sustainability Scorecard is an independent assessment for tourism businesses. It’s a pathway program—the score reflects current progress in sustainability, with Tourism Australia as a founding partner. Each scorecard:
Measures the business’s sustainability achievements at a specific point in time.
Grants a score out of 100, awarded by Ecotourism Australia.
Each business is assessed across four key sustainability pillars and assigned a Sustainability Sub Scores for each pillar. (outlined below)
Sustainability Sub Scores
Environmental Impacts Score: Measures how well the business minimises harm and maximises positive contributions to Australia’s environment.
Sustainable Management Score: Assesses the strength of sustainability planning, leadership, and practices in daily operations and long-term strategy.
Socio-economic Impacts Score: Reflects how the business supports local communities, inclusive employment, and equitable economic growth.
Cultural Impacts Score: Indicates how the business respects, preserves, and celebrates local cultures and Indigenous heritage.
