πŸ“– Note: this article explains how competition administrators can navigate the Event Tags competition tab, and create, edit and delete event tags.

What are Event Tags?

Event tags are competition-specific tags which competition administrators can optionally create for the purpose of better identifying and sorting participants/teams for initiatives such as prizes and other recognition activities.

For example, let's say in a competition, you wanted to give a prize to the top scoring NSW team. However, it may be hard to identify which teams were from NSW. Via the event tags feature, you can create a tag called 'NSW' for NSW teams to identify themselves to you to qualify for the prize.

In individual-based competitions, participants can apply event tags to themselves in their competition waiting bay and overview page. In team-based competitions, team members can apply event tags to their team in their competition waiting bay and overview page.

Once individuals/teams apply event tags, competition administrators will be able to see them on the admin Scoreboard. Participants/teams cannot see tags their competitors have applied. Application of event tags is optional for participants/teams.

Lastly, note that the creation and application of event tags only lasts in the context of specific competitions. Event tags don't carry on to other events, and will not be visible anywhere outside of the competition where they are created and applied.

Navigating to the Event Tags Tab

Click the Event Tags tab within a competition to view all event tags created for the competition, and create, edit, and delete event tags.

When you reach your competition's Event Tags tab, you'll see an overview banner at the top of the page, showing the total number of event tags [1] currently created for the competition, the total number of participants [2] (or teams) in the competition, the current number of tagged participants/teams [3] (i.e. participants/teams who have currently applied at least one event tag), and the current number of untagged participants/teams [4] (i.e. participants/teams who do not currently have any event tags applied).

Below the overview banner, you will be able to see the Event Tags table, which shows a list of all the event tags that exist in the competition (and hence are available for participants/teams to apply to themselves).

For each tag, you will be able to see a tag name and colour [1], a tag description [2]. Click the 3 dots [4] to open action menu, The buttons to Edit [4] and Delete [5] the tag are here.

You can use the search bar [1] to quickly find a specific tag, and you can use the filter [2] to quickly filter the Event Tags table on each column.

Creating Event Tags

To create a new event tag for the competition, click Create Tag.

This will open a modal where you can input a name [1] for the tag you are creating (mandatory), a description [2] (optional), and a colour [3] (picking a tag colour is optional - if you don't choose, yellow will be the default colour for your tag).

When you are ready, click Save to finalise creation of your new event tag. Once your event tag has been created, individuals/teams will be able to start applying the tag to themselves if appropriate. You will also be able to see those who have applied the tag to themselves on the Scoreboard.

Editing Event Tags

To edit an event tag, click the Edit button next to the tag you wish to edit.

This will open a modal where you can edit the tag's name [1], description [2], and colour [3] as required. When you are ready, click Save to finalise edits made to the event tag.

Deleting Event Tags

To delete an event tag, click the Delete button next to the tag you wish to delete.

This will open a modal where you can choose to either Confirm [1] deletion, or Cancel [2] deletion.

❗️Warning: Deleting an event tag will remove the tag from the Event Tag table and the Scoreboard tab. It will also remove the tag from all individuals/teams who had applied it.

You will not be able to recover information on who applied themselves with a tag once you delete it. If you create another tag with the same name, participants/teams will need to manually re-apply it to themselves.

If you delete all tags in the competition, the Event Tags column will disappear from the leaderboard on the Scoreboard tab until you create a new tag.
