📖 Note: This article provides detailed information for an Admin or Manager with ‘Manage Training' or ‘View Insights’ permission on how to interpret course insights.

Terminology

  • Lab Completion: A lab is considered “complete” when the user has marked the lab as complete

  • Markdown Completion: A Markdown is considered “complete” when the user has marked the Markdown as complete

  • Part: A “part” is a piece of content within a course, and can be a lab, quiz, PDF or Markdown file.

  • PDF Completion: A PDF is considered “complete” when the user has marked the PDF as complete

  • Quiz Completion: A quiz is considered “complete” when the user has submitted an attempt for that quiz

Insights - Performance Tab

The Performance Tab compares the user’s performance against all other users who have been assigned the course. The gauges in this section display the assessment average on the outer, light-blue bar. The user’s performance is shown by the inner, purple bar.

The Performance Tab displays the following information:

  • Lab Completion Rate Comparison [1]: This gauge compares the percentage of labs within the course that the user has completed, against the average lab completion rate for all users within the course.

  • Lab Completion Rate Comparison [2]: This gauge compares the percentage of labs within the course that the user has completed against the average quiz completion rate for all users within the course.

  • Course Progress Comparison [3]: This gauge compares the percentage of all parts within the course that the user has completed, against the average course progress rate for all users within the course. Course Progress is calculated by dividing the number of parts (ie. labs, quizzes, PDFs and Markdowns) that the user has completed by the total number of parts within the course.

Insights - Progress Tab

The Progress Tab provides details on how a user is progressing through the course content

For labs, you can view:

  • Whether the user has Started the Lab [1]. Users “start” a lab by spinning up their own instance of the lab. Users cannot attempt a lab without first starting the lab.

  • Whether the user has Completed the Lab [2]. Users “complete” a lab by marking the lab as complete.

  • The Lab Time Used [3] by the user (in minutes). This number reflects the amount of time that the user’s lab was running. Users can only attempt a lab whilst it is running.

For quizzes, you can view:

  • Whether the user has submitted an Attempt [1] for the quiz.

  • The Number of Attempts [2] that the user has submitted for the quiz.

  • The Top Score [3] achieved by the user in a single attempt, as compared to the total number of points that could have possibly been scored. Note, different questions may be worth a different number of points, meaning that this column does not necessarily reflect the number of questions that the user answered correctly.

  • The number of points scored by the user on their Most Recent Attempt [4], as compared to the total number of points that could have possibly been scored.

  • The user’s Success Rate [5], based on their highest scoring attempt. The success rate is calculated by dividing the number of questions that the user answered correctly by the total number of questions within the quiz.

For PDFs, you can view:

  • Whether the user has Completed the PDF [1]. Users “complete” a PDF by marking it as complete.

For Markdowns, you can view:

  • Whether the user has Completed the Markdown [1]. Users “complete” a Markdown by marking it as complete.
