Receiving Messages from your Student(s)

Accessing Chats via the Chat Queue page

When you receive a message from your students for a course, you will see a Number notification badge[1] on message icon on the Events table.

The number represents the number of students who have sent new messages for that course. To access these new messages quickly, you can click on Chat Queue[3] option from the Action dropdown[2] menu.

This will lead you to Chat Queue page for the course. Here you will find all the new messages from the students, or in other words- messages that haven’t been replied to. This page will help you prioritize responding to new messages to ensure timely progress in course for the students. The Notification Badge number[1] represents the number of messages that the user has sent.

You can see date and time of the last message sent by the user, their email info and their course progress. To open the chat drawer, click anywhere on the User row[2].

A chat drawer is where you will find messages from the student. You can type in the message in the Text input box and then click Send button.

You can see that he sent message gets listed in the message thread, along with your Organisation’s Avatar and the date and time at which the message was sent. You can close the chat drawer by clicking the Close icon.

As soon as you send a message and close the chat drawer, you will be notified that the User has been cleared from the Chat Queue and the notifications disappear.

Accessing Chats via the Users Tab in a Course

When you are inside a course, you can see old or new messages from under Users[1] tab as well. If there are new messages, you will see a message icon with Number Notification Badge[2] To open chat thread of a user, select Open Chat[4] option from the Action[3] drop down menu.

This opens the chat drawer of that user with all the previous messages along with the Date and time of when those messages were sent. You can type in a response in the Text Input box, and click Send . To close the drawer, simply click the Close icon.
