This article provides detailed information for users with ‘Create’ permission on how to create a copy of a VM.

Creating a Duplicate

To access all the VMs available in your Org, please access the Manage VMs page by selecting the VMs[2]card under Manage Content[1] on the left navigation bar.

Here you will see a list of all the VMs in your Org. The VMs with Ready[3] status will be available to be duplicated. Click on the Action Icon[4] of the VM you wish to create the copy for. Select ‘Duplicate’[5]option from the dropdown menu.

Naming the Copied VM

After the option to Duplicate has been selected, a duplicate modal opens. You can give the copied VM a new name under the ‘Enter the New VM name’[1] section. You can even write notes relevant to the copied VM in the VM Notes[2] section- this is however optional. Then, click Copy[3] button to confirm the duplication. By default the system generates the name of the copied VM as ‘Copy of <VM Name>’, and you can copy the VM with this name if you don’t wish to give it a new name. Alternatively, you can cancel the duplication process by clicking the Cancel [3] button.

To demonstrate the overriding of the default name, the name here of the VM is changed from ‘Copy of <VM name> to ‘Copied VM test’.

Confirmation of the VM being duplicated

As soon as the VM is duplicated, you will see a confirmation message.

After this you will find the copied VM in the list of VMs on Manage VMs page. In the start, the status will be ‘Uploaded ’ , and will eventually be ‘Ready’ in a few minutes.
